چکیده

Healthy and bold seeds of castor variety “Aruna” were collected. The de-hulled castor kernels were separated from seed coat and finely grounded in an electric grinder. The powdered kernels were passed through 60 mesh sieve and defatted using n-hexane in a soxhlet extractor. After complete extraction of oil seed meal was made free from solvent at low temperature. The defatted seed meal was pulverized and again passed through 60-mesh sieve to get final product .The RICINUS LIPASE source thus, obtained was stored in a screw capped glass vial and kept in a desiccator. As and when required portions from this preparation were used in further enzymatic studies. keywords: Ricinus Lipase, Germinated castor seeds, Cotyledons.

Lipase Activities in Castor Bean Endosperm during Germination.

Two lipases were found in extracts from castor bean (Ricinus communis L.) endosperm. One, with optimal activity at pH 5.0 (acid lipase), was present in dry seeds and displayed high activity during the first 2 days of germination. The second, with an alkaline pH optimum (alkaline lipase), was particularly active during days 3 to 5. When total homogenates of endosperm were fractionated into fat l...

New efficient DNA extraction method to access the microbiome of Ricinus communis seeds.

Ricinus communis (castor bean) seeds are used to produce an alcohol-soluble oil that is used in more than 400 industrial processes. Despite its economic importance, there has been little research on the endophytic microbiota of castor bean seeds. This microbiota is important for plant metabolic processes and may have considerable biotechnological potential, such as production of lipases and pla...

Tissue-Specific Whole Transcriptome Sequencing in Castor, Directed at Understanding Triacylglycerol Lipid Biosynthetic Pathways

BACKGROUND Storage triacylglycerols in castor bean seeds are enriched in the hydroxylated fatty acid ricinoleate. Extensive tissue-specific RNA-Seq transcriptome and lipid analysis will help identify components important for its biosynthesis. METHODOLOGY/FINDINGS Storage triacylglycerols (TAGs) in the endosperm of developing castor (Ricinus communis) seeds are highly enriched in ricinoleic ac...

Isolation and Characterization of Plastidic Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PDH) from Castor (Ricinus communis L.) by Ka-Yu Law A thesis submitted to the Department of Biology in conformity with the requirements for the degree of Master of Science

Plant cells contain plastids, organelles dedicated to performing specific biochemical processes including photosynthesis, starch and oil biosynthesis. Fatty acid biosynthesis in oil seeds occurs in one type of plastid termed the leucoplast. Anabolic metabolism in leucoplasts includes the production of fatty acids and amino acids that depend on the availability of reductants such as NADPH. NADPH...

The induction of enzyme activity in the endosperm of germinating castor-bean seeds.

Endosperm extracts were prepared at various times during germination from intact castor-bean seeds and from seeds from which the embryos had been removed. The sterilized seeds were incubated either on solid water agar or on agar containing 0.3 mM-gibberellic acid. 2. Isocitrate lyase and 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase had very low activities in the mature seeds, but increased 44-fold and 27-fo...
